As you travel around this church, it is important to realise that the church is not, in the first place, a building. St Mary's is a contantly-changing, living community of people committed to proclaiming and living the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is a fellowship of people who throughout the past 850 years have been centred on Christ. As you the beauty of the place, give thanks for all the Christians who built St Mary's and for those who have maintained it and changed it for the past eight centuries.
