The Font, The Altar, The Pulpit and the Lectern

We welcomed Rossgate School to the church last Thursday to investigate the Font, seen here with Peter explaining the significant of the Cross, the Water, the promise, the Badge and the Candle as the light of the world.

Diana explained the significance of the Altar and the meal that is taken here, of the Bread and wine. The colours of the vestments was also explained.

Ena and Margaret explained the significance and use of the Lectern to read the Bible to the congregation and for the priest to preach from the Pulpit the word of God.
|
We started the morning with the children coming in to the church listening to the organ being played by one of the school pupils, Paul, who takes lessons on the organ here. We finished the morning by going out to the sound of the Walker organ playing Widors Toccata, played by Simon Pusey, the Director of Music.
