Joining and progressing with the choir

The choir is seeking to recruit new members both children and adults. We rehearse weekly on Friday evenings and sing at each Sunday morning Eucharist, and at the 6.30 service most Sundays. We do not rehearse over the school holiday so are already rehearsing for the Patronal Festival on September 10th. Speak to Simon Pusey (organist) after any service; phone 01582-794899 or email Simon.pusey@ntlworld. corn

We are always on the look out for young boys and girls who would like to join our trebles. We rehearse once a week on a Friday evening from 7:00pm until 9:15pm, and just before the services. We take choristers from the age of 8 years onwards. Adults are also welcome. We always need all parts.

On most Friday evenings we undertake choir training.

7.00 voice training For new Memebers, and for different parts
Theory classes for those taking medals

7.15 hymn practice for newer members
Solo practice
aural training for all members

7.30 Sight reading in 2 groups basic and advanced

7.45 Full Choir Practice

The choir leads the services on the Sunday Morning at 9:30am and on most Sunday evenings.

The choir learns new pieces of music each week to sing at the services. Once or twice a year the choir take part in a larger concert.

Our choristers are put through their paces and are trained how to sing properly. They have the opportunity to take Royal School of Church Music Exams.

Currently the choristers are studying for their light blue, dark blue, red and yellow medals. Some of the adults taken lessons on improving their singing so that they can also take their medals.

This is the light blue medal for completing the first stage. The medal stays the same but the colour of the ribbon changes. More details about all the medals and the syllabuses are found on the Royal School of Church Music website.

If you are interested in joining the choir then either contact the Director of Music, Simon Pusey, or talk to any member of the choir, or just turn up to a Friday evening rehearsal which starts at around 7:00pm.
