Fabric Report David Clarke
The work being undertaken to repair and replace badly eroded stonework of the clerestory
windows on the South side of the church was finally completed in December. Some stones of the
string course were also replaced at the same time. The total cost of this work was nearly £16,000.
An application for faculty is now being made to carry out work to the North clerestory windows
stonework.
Further repairs include making safe the floor adjacent to the Book of Remembrance by replacing
the yorkstone slabs; and extensive repairs to the badly worn Belfrey stairs.
While the organ was dismantled, the opportunity was taken to redecorate the North transept &
chapel. The South transept is also being redecorated and further redecoration work is being
considered.
