St Mary's Church has a robed choir of an average about 25 people, including quite a large number of trebles. Each week we meet together on a Friday evening for training and to rehearse the hymns and anthems for the following weeks. There are many opportunities for solos and we try to ensure that all are given the opportunity if they wish. Over the past years the choir has gone on many visits to other cathedrals and sung there. Since 1991 we have done 91 services in other churches and Cathedrals. We also put on several concerts per year. The last few events have been put on in aid of the organ restoration appeal.
Training is from 7:00pm until 7:45pm In the training we look at sight reading and aural training. We have quite a strong training programme, with many members of the choir at different levels.
Many of the junior choir are encouraged to train and take their RSCM Medals.
From 7:45 until 9:15 the choir practice works for the coming service and also other services that are coming up.
