St Mary's Church Choir is currently made up
of about 16 adults and 11 young people. Occasionally, certain ex-members
of the choir and friends augment our numbers. St Mary's continues to sing Evensong according to the Book of Common Prayer nearly every
Sunday with either the Nunc Dimitis or the Magnificat sung to a choral setting. Once a month this service is
fully choral with an introit, settings of
the responses and canticles, an
anthem, psalms and hymns.

We have a wide repertoire, learning a couple new Anthems every week. We are a full robed choir which in part adds to the fun of belonging. The trebles (and the adults too if they wish) can take part in the RSCM training programme.

The Music at St Mary's is very varied and
includes works such as Handels Messiah - with the help
from a few friends we managed a choir of 75 and a small orchestra. Each year we try to replace a cathedral choir that is on holiday. The past 2 years we have been to St Albans Abbey. Since 1991 we have done 91 services in other Churches and Cathedrals.
The normal pattern of evening services will continue to be 1st, 4th, 5th Sunday of each month: Choir required for practice at 6.00 for 6.30 service (normally Sung Evensong) 2nd Sunday of month: Choir evening off 3rd Sunday of month: Choir required from 5.15 for 6.30 Choral Evensong. Over the next few months we are gradually doing more choral evensongs, singing different settings to the Magnificat or Nunc
